Kieran McCarthy Fell

Kieran McCarthy Fell is a flute and whistle player originally from Long Island, New York. She began her musical studies on guitar at age 8, and took up the flute at 9, which led to an undergraduate degree in music performance from UNC Chapel Hill. In middle school, Kieran taught herself the tin whistle, and in 2013 started learning Irish flute as part of an independent research fellowship studying the overlap and divergence between the worlds of classical and Irish traditional music. This research resulted in a paper, published in a peer-reviewed journal in December 2014, and a lasting love for playing trad. Kieran plays and performs regularly at sessions and gigs in the NYC area.
