James Steerman

Teaches at Gotham Writers Workshop

James Steerman has optioned numerous feature films with various production companies, and has written numerous plays, including the widely produced Native Stone. He directed the experimental film Ceremony for a New Planet and the documentaries The Skeleton and the Owl and A City on the Hudson. He has taught at Vassar College, where he served as chairman of the Film Department. He holds a BA from the University of Kansas, and an MFA and DFA in Playwriting from the Yale School of Drama.
