Yoo Sookyung is a researcher at The Kyoto International Manga Museum, a lecturer in the faculty of manga of Kyoto Seika University (KSU), a freelance manga artist, and manga translator. She was born in South Korea and studied manga and manhwa (Korean Manga) in The Korea Animation High School and then at KSU (2004-2014), where she received her PhD in Arts (manga).

She has been researching manga expressions in terms of practical techniques as well as theory.
