Class Description

Description

Take your skills beyond the basics with Practice Makes Perfect - Improving in Manual Mode for Teens, a hands-on photography class designed for teens who already know how to work in manual mode and want to improve their results.

After learning manual mode, one of the biggest challenges is knowing how to confidently set your camera and create well-composed images. This class focuses on helping teens refine their technical skills while developing a stronger eye for framing and composition.

This course consists of 6 classes, each 2 hours long, giving students the time and practice needed to build confidence and see real improvement.

All classes take place around PhotoUno in New York City, where students will be photographing real-world scenes while working closely with an instructor. You’ll receive personalized feedback on both your camera settings and how you frame your images.

If weather conditions such as rain or snow arise, classes will continue in inspiring nearby indoor locations like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, allowing students to keep photographing in dynamic environments.

Each session also includes classroom time for inspiration, discussion, and reviewing student work.

What You’ll Learn:

  • Improve your confidence working in manual mode (ISO, shutter speed, aperture)
  • Learn how to choose the right settings in different lighting situations
  • Develop stronger composition and framing techniques
  • Gain inspiration from professional photographers
  • Learn how to present your work and receive constructive feedback

Class experience:

  • Hands-on photography sessions around PhotoUno and NYC
  • Real-time instructor feedback while photographing
  • In-class image review and group critique
  • Indoor sessions at locations like Grand Central and NY Public Library when needed

What do I need to take this course?

  • Have taken Teens Photography I or have full control of your camera in Manual Mode (you can set ISO, shutter speed and aperture to achieve desired results).
  • For this course, you will need a DSLR camera, Mirrorless camera or Compact camera, which has Aperture (A/Av) Priority, Shutter (S/Tv) Priority and Manual Mode.

**Locations vary depending on the weather, and each class offers a unique experience—no two courses are exactly the same.**
