What makes this Course unique is that it is taught by an artist who has experience teaching both sculptors and welders. She is a Part-time Associate Professor at Parsons School of Design, teaching Metal Fabrication. This class is an empowering experience for both beginners as well as people who have experienced welding in the past. The class is also unique because it will be "limited to 2 people"  The Studio has a wall of open windows for excellent ventilation.

WHAT TO WEAR:  Wear closed toe leather or suede shoes and cotton socks. Do not wear clothes you care about. Cotton jeans are best. Bring a long sleeved sweat shirt and wear a  long sleeved cotton shirt. Welding gear and glovesare supplied and included with session. There is no fee for metal.

Question from Gabriella K.
I'm interested in this class, but I would like to know, what is a "tea light candle table?'
Answer from Michelle G. Verified Educator
Here are some examples: http://prntscr.com/qm9y10, http://prntscr.com/qm9ycw. In class, people choose metal to create a small sculpture. If you would like to make it functional, you then braze a small sheet on top for a candle. Each candle stand is unique, as people have a choice of metal to use.

If I would like to take the TIG welding course (interested in building bicycle frames), should I take this course first?
Answer from Brenda L. CourseHorse StaffCourseHorse Staff
Hi there! Yes, the student should at least have taken Gas welding or Mig welding or Arc Welding to be able to take the Introduction to Tig Welding. Hope this helps!

I had a blast. Michelle was very patient and calm while explaining things to me. She is a font of knowledge, and she makes you instantly feel at ease. I have always wanted to try an oxy/acetylene torch. You can feel the professionalism of Michelle’s years of teaching the welding arts. I totally geeked out at all the incredible tools. I may have to take her mig class next….

This was my first oxyacetylene class and it was such a wonderful experience. Michelle is an incredibly knowledgeable and natural teacher. She made me feel confident about working with the torch and described everything very thoroughly. On top of that, she is very friendly and we had great conversation. I learned so much and I’m looking forward to taking more classes in the very near future!! Thank you for a truly enjoyable class!
