I started dancing formally when I was young, leading me to Florida A&M University as a recipient of the Cosby Scholarship for Performing Arts, where I performed in musicals such as Purlie Victorious. Though I ultimately decided not to pursue a career as a professional dancer, my love for the art has continued to live within me. My fire for Salsa was ignited seven years ago when I walked into a Salsa club on the east coast. Two years after I began taking Salsa classes, I was selected to train with the Hips on Fire Dance Company and, later, the Salsa Y Control Dance Company, as a member of their professional teams. I have performed Salsa and Bolero at several local events, as well as national and international dance Congresses, such as the Salsa Rueda Congress of the Americas in Miami, FL and the Boston Salsa Congress in Boston, MA. Salsa dancing is a great activity, and it brings me great joy to share the dance, the music, and positive atmosphere with others.
