Photoshop CC Day 2: Layers, Colors, Selections & Type

In this one-day Adobe Authorized training class, you will learn how to create, link and group layers and how to apply color, including CMYK safe colors, custom and spot colors. You will also learn one of Photoshop's most important skills: how to make and save selections using the Marquee and Lasso tools as well as Quick Select and the Magic Wand tool. Learn how to add to or subtract from selections and how to avoid hard edges. Finally, you will move, scale, rotate and skew selected pixels and use the Text tool with images and layer styles to create spectacular type effects.

Course Outline  

Layers:

• types of layers 
• creating, reordering, linking and moving layers
•  grouping and locking layers 
• automatic layer alignment and blending 

Colors: 

• using the Swatches Palette 
• CMYK safe colors/output in RGB 
• using the color sliders to choose colors 
• choosing custom and spot colors

Selection Tools 

• using the basic selection tools: Marquee and Lasso 
• quick selection and refine edge 
• selecting by color, using the Magic Wand  
• adding and subtracting from selections 
• filling selections with colors 
• saving selections 
• feathering selections  

Moving and Transforming Pixels:

• using the Move tool  
• using the Free Transform command 
• moving pixels vs. moving selections  

Text and Type Effects:

• using the Text tool and warping text 
• blending type and images 
• using layer styles

Pre-requisite: This class is designed for people who have attended Level 1 or have six months of experience using Photoshop and already know how to size and crop images.
