Water Media by Rea is hosted by Rea Nagel, a retired secondary school teacher who now teaches art part-time at an adult school in California. She is fascinated by mountains and oceans, using watercolors and mixed media to capture the colors and motion of these natural landscapes.

As a native of a very flat Illinois, my fascination with mountains and oceans is understandable. I have been in California for many years now and love of the countryside and ocean seems to grow by the day. I get excited by the roar of the water and the colors of the rocks.
After spending many years teaching on the secondary school level, I retired from that occupation and now my love of teaching art led to a part time job of teaching adult school.
Whatever excites my eye will become a subject of a painting. I use watercolors and mixed media, whatever seems appropriate to get the feelings across on the paper and to the eye of the beholder. I enjoy blending the colors and creating the motion that we see. Everything is transitory and what we see today in a certain light will assume different perspectives in a new brighter or duller light. Our own moods also color the views that we see.

This is a good class for beginners or people who are needing a refresher course in watercolor, or the use of acrylics in a watercolor style.

I actually signed up for the class back in June and it was a great way to spend 2 hours on a Wednesday morning. Only myself and another student were present at the class and the teacher was great. The only reason I haven’t returned is because 10am on Wednesdays is an unpredictable time in my week, and I live 25+ minutes away. However, I purchased some of my favorite art supplies at the store it’s hosted within, so I’m grateful for that as well.

The class only had 3 people so Rea gave us all a lot if individual attention. As a watercolor newbie I needed and got a lot of suggestions as to how to work on my waiting of leaves. Rea is very patient, taught us a number of important watercolor concepts, and I left the class very inspired and interested in taking more watercolor classes to develop my skills.

Lovely teacher, very low key and non judgmental of our initial artistic efforts. Learned a lot, and had fun.

I really enjoyed my session with Rea. She striped it back to basics for me to understand how watercolor can be used, as I'm a super beginner. She gave good constructive feedback and tips throughout.

Great class for me. I like flexibility and the opportunity to explore different techniques. The instructor provides a different focus every week and all forms of water media are included.
