The California Center for Digital Arts (The Center) is more than a collection of useful equipment, studios, classrooms, and top-flight teachers. We are a student resource for beginners, and a source of inspiration for advanced image/video creators developing new, or expanding, visual voices. We are a place where students learn to think in visual terms; we ground ourselves in the fundamentals, and revel in those wonderful ‘ah-ha!’ moments when a student grasps concepts that turn into incredible images.
At The Center we personally answer phone calls, welcome you with a handshake and a cup of coffee, and listen to you tell us what you want to know and where you want to go. We feel your struggles but never waver in helping you achieve your goals, and celebrate with you when you shout, “I get it.” We are strangers who quickly become your personal mentors, people who can reach over your hand and move your fingers to the right camera button, push the correct keystroke, or help you flip the correct light switch. We are teachers, but we are also experience; we are the people and times you will remember every time you squeeze the shutter button, light up a studio, or launch your digital applications in the future.
The California Center for Digital Arts is teacher-owned by individuals who are mentors, by teachers who believe that hands-on learning is the best way to develop skills, by instructors who believe that an encouraging and supportive environment helps you grow and create.
Our instructors are professionals, carefully chosen because of their nationally recognized achievements, experience and professional certifications. They believe that you can achieve your goals, and much more. Our mentored, hands-on approach to education develops professional skills, but more importantly, develops critical visual decision abilities. This is just what happens when you work with teachers who are committed to education— and that commitment is what you will find at “The Center.”
Sarah was so clear, informative and engaging. I thoroughly enjoyed her session and can highly recommend it as a great way to familiarize yourself with the basics in order to prepare yourself for future learning. Thank you Sarah!
I would like to tell you how much I am enjoying your workshops. The lessons I have learned have greatly improved my photography skills and my confidence level. You have renewed my passion for photography!
If you were to line up the photos I've taken over the last 20 years on sequential order, you could see a very specific photo from which everything that follows shows marked improvement, a fresh style, and identity that no previous photo possesses. That's the first photo I took after learning from David LaNeve and his team at the Center. If you're considering a photo school in Orange County, I highly encourage you to try this one.
Having taken a few classes at the California Center for Digital Arts, I have to say I am more than impressed! (I guess that is the reason I have taken multiple classes.) David La Neve and the other instructors have a passion for photography that is infectious.
Overall I had a good experience in this class. At times it was a bit more beginner than I had anticipated. Taking time to show us how to turn on the power switch was a little too basic for me. I understand there are some people who don't know how to power on a light... I would have like to have spent more time learning how to actually light subjects, and about different types of lighting... which is what I had thought the class would be more focused on and less on how to plug in lights, turn them on etc.
I love the class and got right What I wanted from it. The class was perfect. The teacher was great, funny, and educational. Every question asked was answered in a manner everyone in class could understand.
Robert Davis photographs seascapes beautifully. This evening he let us in on his secrets. Taking the picture is only the last step; it's all in the preparation and attention to detail.
