Whether you're writing a play, a screenplay, a sitcom, a sketch or a web series, there are basic essential elements to all script writing that a writer MUST know before they can begin to effectively tell their story! In this intensive workshop designed specifically for comedians looking to learn how to begin to format their ideas for the page, you will learn:
  • the difference between acts, sequences, scenes, French scenes, and beats,
  • the basic structure of a scene and how it relates to your story arc
  • the different types of scenes and how and when to use them,
  • dramatic actions - the building blocks of all scenes, 
  • how to use rituals to make stories and individual scenes more compelling
  • and more secrets of the trade!
Through lecture, in-class exercise, and numerous examples from films and TV, this workshop will help prepare you to master the basics of scripted writing with skills that can be carried into a myriad of different entertainment professions!
