What you'll learn in this kids crafts class:

In this choice-based class, young artists will develop their craft through tools, materials, and practices. They will learn to focus on their work, and mentally picture the next steps. Students will express themselves by creating works conveying an idea, a feeling, or a meaning.

  • In the drawing center, they will learn about horizon lines, depth, and composition. Young artists will play in the painting center to learn about analogous colors, and triadic colors using watercolor techniques such as wax resist and layering.
  • In the collage center, students will explore radial balance, and abstract vs. realistic pictures while creating colorful fun works of art.
  • In the sculpture center they will continue to explore cutting and gluing techniques with tubular architecture to create movable puppets.

Each class begins with a brief lesson on a material, technique, review, or art history lesson. At the end of each class, young artists will be encouraged to speak about how their art-making process went, ask questions, and give feedback to each other.

All Canceled classes will be refunded

Original cancellation policy (non-COVID-19):

We strongly encourage you to pre-register to ensure a space in class. We keep class sizes small to allow personalized instruction and a quality experience for participants.

Classes may be canceled when enrollment minimums are not reached. Classes, workshops and special events not meeting enrollment minimums will usually be canceled two to three days before the start date. A minimum enrollment of 4-5 students is usually required for a class to run. Workshops may need at least 10 enrolled to run a workshop. Please register early to ensure your preferred class will run. Students will be notified if classes are canceled and will receive a full refund.

Tuition is refundable for all classes and workshops; minus a processing fee of $30 if we are notified at least TWO WEEKS prior to the class start date. Cancellations within one week of class start dates receive a 50% refund. Parents/students are responsible for notifying CourseHorse (at [email protected]) that they wish to drop a class or workshop; not attending class/workshop does not constitute an official withdrawal from class or cancellation fees. There are no refunds once a class has begun.

Workshops under $25 and Kids Night Out are non-refundable. We suggest you sell or give your ticket to another student. The new student is responsible for registering their name with teachers upon arrival.

If a teacher needs to cancel a class, they will make arrangements with students to make up the class at the end of the schedule. The teacher will be in touch with students/parents as soon as they know they need to change the schedule.

The Milton Art Center follows the Milton Public Schools schedule for inclement weather cancellations. If the MPS are closed, the MAC will close. We will extend the class schedule to add in the canceled class.
