Give as a Gift Book as private eventIn this popular one-day workshop, you'll have the opportunity to carve your own stone, an art form that is not typically accessible.
For beginners and experienced sculptors alike, you'll be guided through the process of looking into the rock for imagery, carving into material, planning and forming a sculpture, and using tools. Hand-carving techniques will be demonstrated, and stone carving lore will be discussed. We'll also touch upon safety in the studio, and stone and tool sourcing.
You will leave with your stone sculpture in hand.
Please bring a bag lunch to class.
All materials will be provided.
Important: You will need to bring safety glasses, gloves and mask. Because of new social distancing requirements there will only be room for six stone carvers in studio at any one time.

Refunds in tuition are given up to five days before the start of class. 50% percent refund within 5 days (which may be applied to a future class). No refunds are given after first class.

Ample Parking. MBTA accessible #62 bus goes right past it. BEDFORD RAILROAD STATION was built in 1873 by the Middlesex Central Railroad. The building was a focal point in Bedford for many decades. Passengers bought tickets from the agent there for travel to Boston, Concord and Billerica. A Railway Express office handled shipments of parcels. The B&M Railroad decommissioned the Depot in 1958; and the Town acquired the property in 1999. In 2014 the historical building was renovated and is where the stone carving classes reside!
