Jessie Kindig

Teaches at Brooklyn Institute for Social Research

Jessie Kindig is an editor at Verso Books and associate faculty at the Brooklyn Institute for Social Research. She earned her Ph.D. in History from the University of Washington in 2014, specializing in the history of twentieth-century U.S. empire, wartime violence, and visual and political culture. Her writings on photography, feminism, and military violence have appeared in n+1, the Boston Review, Jacobin, Radical History Review, and American Quarterly. She has held visiting scholar positions at the Department of Social and Cultural Analysis at New York University and at the Center for the Study of Ethnicity and Race at Columbia University, and from 2014–2016 was visiting assistant professor of history at Indiana University and an assistant editor at the Journal of American History.
