We had the best time! Delicious food, great space, new friends and rock star chef/instructor!
-
-
I like how everyone is so hands on and assisting in everything,
Makes it easier to learn and also have fun doing it.
-
Really good class to leverage your knife handling skills. Which additionally provides comforting preventative techniques to avoid injury.
The soup we made in class, was pretty delish, & unfortunately we had leftovers (that I highly doubt would be wasted). However, I wish I knew we could've taken some home in advance. As I would've brought a container w/ me. So, I could relish my tastebuds in it more.
This Recreational Cooking School is very beneficial for the Seasonal job lifestyle I am currently engaging in, & I plan to return more than thrice.
To become even more familiar, comfortable, & better at honing everything from a fundamentals to intermediate culinary environment!!
-
Class was really fun and the teacher, Erica, was excellent. The one disappointment was that I communicated with the school a month ahead of the class that my son had a nut allergy and would need some accommodation m and this was not communicated to the teacher. Fortunately we were early to class so she was able to have a nut alternative delivered before we got too far under way. Given that this is a serious medical issue I was very disappointed that the ball was dropped.
-
Wonderful class. Extremely knowledgeable teacher. She clearly loves what she does. Throughly enjoyed this experience.
-
Chef Erica was so knowledgeable! So engaging! I’ve never taken one of these courses before but I will be taking more n the future!

Very enjoyable with easy instruction. I highly recommend. I may never buy a store bought bagel again!
-
We had a blast learning the fundamentals of bagel baking with Chef Erica. She did a great job of walking us through all the steps, keeping us on track, and graciously answering many questions throughout. She also shared some fun history, as well as the underly science. She made the whole process very entertaining! We'd definitely do it again.

Erica was fantastic! So incredibly knowledgeable, a great teacher and also really funny. The space was perfect, just the right size, all the right tools, comfortable, easy to find. We had a great time I would recommend this class to anyone!
-
Erica was very nice and prompt but the class lacked equipment. there was 1 pot, 1 broken burner, and all we did was watch her most of the time, it was supposed to be a full participation class according to the description, but all we did was watch Erica then finally at 8:15 we rushed to coat the truffles and make the candy canes at the last 20-30 minutes of the class...Wow we got to take turns stirring the ganache, for 5 seconds each, we should have had our own batches to make. The batches were so small and there was 10 people in the class. Very disappointing and won’t book with u again. This was my 3 cookie or chocolate class in 2 weeks and the only one that was good was with Katie in Brooklyn, the macaroon class in the hotel in NY and this one were the worst. Very disappointing
-
Erica was so great! It felt like being in a home kitchen. Food was delicious. Conversation was fun. Just the right size group. Definitely recommend this course!!

Erica is very
Knowledgeable and explains things very clearly! Great class
-
-
Great teacher - very engaging. Very hands on and the small group meant that we could ask lots of different questions. I really enjoyed the class and would look to go back to the same place for additional courses.
-
I loved the class!
Thank you to Erica for teaching me so much!
I can't wait to take the 6 week boot camp in the winter.
This is a must for anybody, whether you're a newbie or a pro, I believe you'd still learn a whole bunch from Erica!
-
I learned so much and had a great time! Learned much more than just about fish - we learned about technique, knife cuts - much more than cooking fish. Erica was so knowledgeable and fun and I highly recommend this class!
-
I loved this class. Chef Erica was so knowledgeable, helpful and entertaining. I learned a great deal, not only in terms of practical skills, but also in terms of food science, and conscious consumerism. I also had so much fun! I looked forward to class every week. The small group size made it possible for all of us to get hands on instruction, and to enjoy each other’s company. Just wonderful in all ways. I highly recommended this class :)

Erica was great ! Fantastic experience !
-
Hi,it was a great experience ,i learnt and cherished maxican Tacos and our instructer was super friendly .She explained every step of the entire course. It was an easy ,fun class in a homely atmosphere.
-
-
The recipes we made were so delicious. The chef was super nice and smart.
-
Erica is the most amazing instructor! The class is small and fun and homey. The food is delicious and you learn so much!

I joined Erica for the basking basic class last night - and I have to say it exceeded all expectations.
Erica was so fun, easy going, and knowledgeable.
We were lucky and there were only 4 of us in the class, so we got a lot of attention!
Erica took the time to explain the science behind everything we were doing - along with many Great British Bake Off references.
She baked a bread baguette for us that we ate during the class with lashings of butter. And we made a fruit pie each, one large chocolate torte, and multiple cream puffs. All of which were divvied up to take home.
All of them were delicious and I am keen to practice it all at home now.
We all got a chance to practice the techniques that Erica taught..
I really recommend this class, and would be very keen to join Erica for any others that she hosts.
-
Erica was amazing and the class was extremely engaging and informative. Can't wait till the next one.
Thank you!
-
Organized, informative, fun! Best part was taking what we learned to make a wonderful group meal. Erica, the instructor, was great.
-
Bootcamp was both educational and fun. The instructor was outstanding.
-
-
-
Erica is both funny and an amazing teacher, and I learned way more than I thought I would. Not only that, but she also makes it easy to remember what was taught.
-
Overall had a great time. Would be nice if it were a little more hands on, but Erica was great and we had an awesome time.
-
-
Had a great time in the class! We made brittle, truffles, and peppermint patties, just in time for the holiday season! The instructor was knowledgeable about the subject matter and gave us great tips and tricks to help us replicate what we learned in class at home. Would definitely try another class here!
-
The class was great and we really enjoyed it. The chocolate goodies we made were delicious and the teacher did a great job explaining things but we would have preferred that we made our own candys and the teacher kept track of who’s tray was who’s. There were others licking their fingers and double dipping hands into sprinkle bowls, touching their hair and face and not washing before putting hands in items, etc. The class in itself was great but the teacher should have been more concious of this and either stopped it or prevented it. At least make people wear gloves if you aren’t going to divvy up the students food separately.
-
My husband and I took this class because we're expecting a baby and I was worried about how to feed it. We loved the class so much we signed up for Bootcamp II! Erica made cooking easy and fun. She's also hilarious. We looked forward to it every week. I started going in barely knowing how to boil pasta and now I can actually make the pasta (I won't, but I can!) I highly recommend this class, no matter what level you think you might be (and, it's a great weekly date night!)
-
-
Great instructor- she was super organized, had a lot of good tips and tricks, gave great instructions and descriptions and kept the class loving really well. Would DEFINITELY take from her again
-
Loved the intimacy of the kitchen. Our chef was phenomenal. The food turned out close to perfect.
-
Great class and Erica makes it even better!
-
-
-
I throughly enjoyed the class. I learned very valuable skills, the skill level around me made me feel comfortable to try new things, and I loved Erica. She was very straight to the point but friendly, too. I’m hoping to come back for the steak class I enjoyed it so much!
-
Erica is a great instructor!
-
-
-
Erica is really fantastic and the course was perfect for a beginner. I felt comfortable, yet challenged and once a week was frequent enough that I felt like I was making real progress. Would recommend.
-
This class is awesome! It’s great for beginners and more advanced cooks alike and offers a really comprehensive overview of techniques and cuisines. Erica is also fantastic - patient and hilarious. Highly, highly recommend, and I’ll be doing other classes here soon!
-
-
Amazing experience, will recommend to all my friends!
Thank you, Erica!!!
-
-
-
Informative and fun. Would recommend to friends and family.
-
-
Really great class! A lot of fun, super hands on AND it’s BYOB!
-

-
The class was AMAZING! It's all hands on. The class was small enough that you can ask any questions to the teacher. Erica is very friendly, funny, and smart. I highly recommend for anybody who likes to eat. You can attend as a single or a couple or as a family!
-
We had an enthusiastic teacher, wonderful students, but I wish the last class would be on healthier foods like soups, appetizers, and salads, rather than pastry and pasta.
-
It was a positive overall experience. The teacher was very knowledgeable and did a nice job of explaining the process.
-
I highly recommend this cooking class for all. Erica was so friendly and provided clear directions. All the dishes came out delicious. You are very much involved in cooking, so you learn a lot. At the end of the class, you get to eat what you created. Amazing class!
-
Erica was Amazing! She is a great teacher. She taught us basic skills in order to create something really tasty (fancy dish as well). You get to cut/mix/sauté etc… so don’t get your nails done before this class! Erica pays attention to you so you never feel unsafe or feel alone. You can ask her any questions anytime during the class and she makes you feel very welcomed. You cook over 3 dishes (maybe even 4 or 5?) each class so prepare to be busy! Also after the class, you get to eat what you made.
Before this class, I was intimidated to cook whole fish or whole chicken, but now I feel much more comfortable cooking them and eating all amazing dishes.
I strongly recommend this class to anyone who love to cook, eat and have a great time!

This was my favorite course I've ever taken. Erica is such a fun, informative, kind, patient and engaging instructor. The class is small enough that you all get to participate in every part of the meal preparation, and it's done at the perfect pace - not rushed/stressful, and yet you still end up making a bunch of food. Speaking of which, you get to eat all the food that was prepared during the class at the very end, and these meals are better than what you would get at a restaurant (personal pride not withstanding). I came in as an absolute beginner, and now I feel a lot more comfortable using a knife, sauteing, roasting, blanching, frying meats on a skillet, and above all, generously applying salt to all of my dishes. Highly recommend this course for a fun, educational, and hands-on experience.

Good course and was kept interested. John made sure we all got the technique right, made a nice meal, and answered all of our questions.
-
Really great!!! Had a wonderful time, my friend and I definitely enjoyed learning the different knife skills. We're going to come back for a different class.
-
-
Fantastic! This was my 2nd class with Erica, and it didn't disappoint! I learned an amazing amount -- from the best way to melt chocolate to advanced variations of truffles, start-to-finish homemade peppermint patties, and delicious nut brittle! We even 'pulled' sugar and made handmade candy canes. So fun for the holidays! Definitely going to the Easter candy class.
We also had lots of extra to bring home, which made my husband happy!
-
Erica was so much fun. Loved watching Erica do her thing to help us learn how to cook awesome dishes.
Liked the small size of the class too.
-
-
First if all, the class was a lot of fun. Even though the menu items were things I had made before, everything was delicious and I learned a lot of new information about making these items. Our instructor, Erika, was very sweet and easy-going. She was really knowledgeable about the science of cooking - how various ingredients or cooking methods affect the item you are making; that was really impressive.
Kitchen and room where class is held are really nice and good for doing your work in the recipes and for seeing everything that is being shown to you.
-
The class was excellent. An amazing teacher who is very knowledgeable. This is my second class with her. I look forward to taking some more.
-

-
John presented an excellent class. I was weak on knife skills and technique and in four short classes I felt much more confident and competent. I enjoyed the class so much I am already signed up for an advanced class. I highly recommend Cooking NY
-
Class was great! My dad, who I bought the class for, is a much more experienced cook and he took so much out of it. I felt like I learned so many techniques so I'm not intimidated in the kitchen. John was a great teacher.
-
-
I like Erika. She is entertaining and she explains how things are done step by step. Best of all, she assigns tasks so that you get to participate in the class. The class was fun and festive.
On the other hand, I do want to leave some feedback about this class. The title of this class says Pho. So one would naturally imagine and reasonably expect that the class is going to spend some time on how to develop the rich flavor and aroma in this amazing dish. I do understand that the broth takes a long time to cook so that the amazing flavors can be extracted during the cooking process. When we started the class, the stock was already cooking for two hours. This part is okay. Then what we did basically was throw the vegetables and spices in the soup and then walked away. It was until at the end of the class that we covered on how to assemble this pho dish.
I came to this class expecting how to develop the great broth. However, I was a bit disappointed that I did not get to learn what I hoped for. In all honesty, all these other dishes were great too, but I am fully willing to pay for the whole class just to learn the secret to develop the wonderful broth. All the other dishes are bells and whistles to me.
And I was not satisfied with the broth that we developed in the end.
I was not satisfied with the class but I was happy with the instructor. That's why I gave it a neutral rating.
-
This was a perfect day. Erica was incredible. Answered all of our questions and was just a fabulous teacher.
The food we made was absolutely delicious!
I've already recommended this class to many people and will be using these recipes next weekend!
-
-
Great intimate environment. Lots of hands on cooking, yummy brunch food and great instructor!
-
-
I absolutely loved it!
Erika, the instructor is such a talented chef and made it so easy for all of us to learn.
I recommend this course.
Thank you!
-
I just want to say my mom had the best time! It was her first official cooking class and loved it. She will be back and I will have to come too. I had a great time and learned so much. Ready to host the best brunch ever!!!
-
Erica was incredible. Funny, informative, personable, experienced, and did I mention funny??
I recommended the program to many friends after her class!

the class was terrific. very enjoyable atmosphere - primarily because our teacher - John, was very personable; very professional; very approachable. The teaching was well delivered - John offered terrific explanations and instructions - he broke down components very well. I'll definitely be back!
-
Chef John conducted the course professionally. Chef John was very informative and also gave other ideas that the student can substitute items according to their own palate. I've learn so much in this class that I've already signed up for part 2 and so looking forward to learn more !!! I definitely would recommend this to anyone who wants to learn cooking.

Knowing how to use a chef knife correctly is life changing. I cook a lot of vegetable dishes and this will make preparing food faster, easier, and more enjoyable. As an added bonus, the teacher (Erica) kept the class entertained. She's a great teacher and communicator. I highly recommend this class.
-
-
Erica was very professional, courteous and patient!
She took the time to answer some very basic questions as if she was hearing them for the first time.
Her experience as a restaurant chef and professor came through as she helped us with many basic techniques.
It was only two of us in the class, and she took the time to teach as if there were ten students.
We learned, and enjoyed our experience very much. We look forward to attending more classes in the future.
Thank you Erica.
-
The Sushi Workshop was a wonderful experience. The small class size, knowledgeable instructor, and inviting atmosphere were exactly what I was hoping for. I will certainly be taking another class in the very near future.

I really enjoyed today's class and was sure to attend Erica's class because of her energy and humor. She has such interesting tidbits about every ingredient and process in the recipes. A total food nerd, which is awesome. Everyone gets to try to make all the recipes instead of splitting into groups to do different recipes, and they are also really delectable. People love the stuff I make from a previous class, so I'm excited to incorporate these Middle Eastern dishes into my repertoire.

Erica was an excellent teacher. Very encouraging and involved with her class - and one can see this through the way that she interacts with her students. Will definitely look into taking another class with Erica at some point. Great atmosphere, company, decor, and most importantly, a delicious meal. Would highly recommend this class to anyone looking for a pasta-making course!

This course was taught by a lovely, friendly, knowledgeable woman. We appreciated her honesty, feedback and knowledge of cooking and food. She was a great teacher, and we enjoyed learning from her. The school is small, with a maximum of 10 students in a class. This allows it to be intimate, so you get to know the people you're spending the next 3 hours with, and that adds to the interest and fun. Most importantly, the food we cooked was wholesome and delicious, and we now feel like we are able to make something gourmet easily at home. We would most certainly return for another class, though cost is a determining factor in when that will be. Cooking class is a bit pricy, for sure!
-
-
The instructor was very knowledge, open to answering any type of cooking question, and extremely comfortable in the kitchen. We made delicious, healthy food and the instructor made it easy.

I spent this class learning things I'd never known before. I didn't even know how to hold a knife, didn't understand the importance of seasoning, or how to even tell a pan is hot.
I took a bunch of notes and will practice everything I learned in that class. I had a wonderful experience and plan to take more at this cooking school.
