Absolute Beginner to Guitar: Basics and Fundamentals will teach your child how to play guitar with proper right and left hand techniques as well as proper posture. We start our children out by teaching them how to play guitar through playing songs and through reading music notation.
This course teaches students how to play lead guitar and rhythm guitar. The lead guitar portion is taught through reading music notation and learning single note melodies though popular enjoyable songs. The rhythm guitar portion is taught through learning chords and strumming/picking patterns through popular rock, pop and traditional songs.
At the end of the 8-week course you will be able to play single notes melodies, strum chords and play full songs comfortably with practice.
Upon completion of this class your child will have the option to re-sign and move on to the next level.
At the end of each class, parents/students can film their instructor playing what was taught at a slow tempo for home practice reference.
New York Guitar Academy provides Guitars (Electric and Acoustic) for all students to use during all of their active classes. For home practice, we have an on-site in-studio guitar store that specializes in renting and selling quality student instruments.
Students will have the opportunity to perform at our biannual student show.
