Andrew Nielson

Teaches at The Barrow Group Acting School

Andrew Nielson is a New York City based actor, writer, filmmaker, and cellist. A member of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, Andrew’s church satire series "Plant: The Second Coming" was an Indie Series Award winner and nominee (including a nomination for Andrew as Best Comedy Writer and Best Comedy Director), as well as screening at the world-renowned Nashville Film Festival, Hollyweb Festival, and NYC Web Fest (Best Writing Nomination).

Upcoming writing and producing projects include: 30 minute television pilot "In The Desert Footlights" (a Sundance New Voices Lab and Orchard Project semi-finalist, co-created with David Lavine. Pilot script and pitch deck available for perusal); "Whoops, We Joined A Cult! The Musical!" (co-written with Jenny Ward with music and lyrics by David Gomez); Untitled Dark Comedy Thriller Feature (co-written with Jenny Ward).

As an actor, Andrew has been seen on stages throughout NYC and the United States, including playing the well-intentioned but musically challenged Bank Manager in "Once: The Musical" at The Fulton Theatre (Artistic Director Marc Robin) and Virginia Repertory Theatre under the direction of Nathaniel Shaw and the music direction of J. Michael Zygo (Original Broadway Cast, "Once: The Musical"), as well as Theatre Raleigh’s production under the direction of Tim Seib (BroadwayWorld Award Nominee - Best Supporting Actor in A Musical). BroadwayWorld says, "Andrew Nielson is wonderfully cast as the awkward Bank Manager," and The Snapper praises Andrew's performance of Abandoned in Bandon, which "draws laugh as Nielson’s Bank Manager sings his little musically tone deaf heart out."

Andrew also originated the 6 role track of Benjamin/Micha/Naphtali (and others) in the outrageous but heartfelt new musical comedy "The Unusual Tale of Mary and Joseph’s Baby" at Firebone Theatre. Time Out New York raves: “Andrew Nielson, who recalls a Young Jim Carrey, gives the show real laughs!”

Recently, Andrew co-wrote and performed "An Evening with Eustace and Laurie Brockovich" at The Duplex Cabaret Theatre. Eustace and Laurie started as characters in the public-access parody sketch series "Dabblin’! With Eustace and Laurie Brockovich."
