Misha Mokretsov, Head Coach
Misha Mokretsov began fencing at the age of 12 in his native city, Khmelnitsky. His coach Yury Mazur, helped him to become a Ukrainian National Championship Silver medalist in 2005, and a member of the Junior National Epee Team and European Championship finalist in team event in 2004. Throughout his national team career, Misha has competed in numerous cadet and junior World Cups and European Championships.

In 2010, Misha founded New York Fencing Academy, which has quickly become a center for excellence in epee with one of the strongest competitive youth programs in the tri-state area. Misha is proving to be a talented and dedicated coach who has already produced many nationally-ranked fencers who have earned over 60 Super Youth Circuit medals and 30 National and International medals, including Champion titles at North American Cups and European Cups. As head coach and owner of NYFA, Misha is fully committed to helping all of his students, young or old, reveal their abilities and achieve their goals, whether they aspire to fence internationally, in college, or simply to enjoy the sport.

Slava Zingerman, Epee Coach

Slava started fencing at age 10 in Ashkelon, Israel and has been a competitive fencer since 1994. He was 11 times Israel National Champion in all age categories-Cadet, Junior and Senior and was a member of Cadet, Junior and Senior Israeli National Team.

Slava started his coaching career in fencing club Hapoal Ashkelon in 2004 where he was working until his departure to the United States in 2006. During his last year at WSU, Slava was offered a position as an assistant fencing coach for the WSU school team, from 2011 Slava is coaching at Manhattan FC and now coaches at New York Fencing Academy.

Olga Statsenko, Epee Coach 
Olga teaches epee to New York Fencing Academy’s younger students. She draws from her considerable experience as a competitive athlete whose achievements include 1997 Russian Champion, Medalist of Russian Championships and Cups from 1997 to 2005, Silver Medalist of World University Games in 1997, and Finalist in several World Cups. 

Olga was ranked number five in Russia before the 2000 Olympic Games, missing the Olympics by just one spot. She was a member of the Russian National Team from 1997 to 2004. Olga earned her degree from the Academy of Physical Education and Sports in Kuban, Russia.

Ed Mufel, Epee Coach

Edward trained in fencing from fourth grade at one of the most prestigious specialized Athletic schools in Kazakhstan. This school has produced famous athletes around the world. Upon immigrating to the United States, Edward went on to compete with Pennsylvania State University’s fencing team. With the team, he won All-American NCAA titles from 1988-1991. 

In 1988, Edward was ranked number 4 in the United States. Individually, he was the NCAA Champion in 1989, and won second place in 1988. Edward competed in several international championships, showcasing his talent with foil. Edward also taught at Metropolis Fencing School in Manhattan for four years, from 1992 to 1996.
