Leyla Acaroglu & Yvette King

Teaches at Un-School of Disruptive Design

Leyla Acaroglu (A-jar-a-loo) is a New York based Australian designer, social scientist, sustainability provocateur and entrepreneur. She is the founder of The Un-School of Disruptive Design, and two design agencies; New York based Disrupt Design and Melbourne based Eco Innovators, both multidisciplinary studios focused on pioneering social and environmental change by and through design. Her work spans a variety of locations, fields and mediums, and is driven by a strong desire to effect, create, and see positive pro-sustainability change in the world. She has just completed her PhD on how to make effective change.

Leyla is a well-respected international speaker, having presented on the mainstage at TED2013 in Longbeach, along with two other TED talks (TEDx Sydney and TEDx Melbourne), key noted the AIGA Design Conference, Bonier Grid and a host of other keynotes. She is a highly skilled communicator and passionate presenter with her writing being published in a host of design magazines and the New York Times.

Yvette King is a creative producer and artist at The Un-School of Disruptive Design. Before moving to New York in 2014 to start un-doing things she ran galleries, strange events and education experiences in Australia, while working in installation and fabrication across the arts community. She brings to the team an effervescent personality, her excellent curatorial expertise and an abundance of skills from welding to sewing (and conveniently bike maintenance abilities). At the Un-School she is responsible for member collaborations, running workshops and projects as well as making sure our program happens in an all-round amazing way.
