The building that is now Art on 30th once housed the Morse Security Company. We have left the original mosaic logo in the lobby floor as an homage to the building’s history. The original Samuel Morse was an artist made famous by his portrait of American President John Adams. He also invented the Morse Code. So the mosaic has an unexpected association with art.
Art on 30th was the vision of Kate Ashton in 2013 and officially opened its doors in January 2015. Ashton wanted a venue that honored the artists she mentored, a space that would be inspiring not only to work in, but for all who visit.
Art on 30th offers classes for beginning as well as advanced artists. It also has two rooms dedicated to being both classrooms and gallery space. The second floor houses 15 private artist studios.
Art on 30th is also a community of artists who are courageous enough to take their art to market and do it successfully. Ashton offers monthly sessions for the larger community on “How to Take Your Art to Market.”

The class was okay not a big choice of colors available. I had to bring in my own paints for a more fall colors painting. Also missed the last class due to having to leave the state for the birth of twin grandbabies. No make-up class available. This bummed me out.

Modern Calligraphy: Watercolor Brush Lettering
Anonymous review on 7/6/2018
Kristen was great and patient. Wish we got to go a little deeper though. Also, CourseHorse listed the class as being 3 hours per session; however, it was only from 6p-8p each class and there was also a materials list that we had to purchase in addition to the actual course itself, wish that would have been made clearer prior to purchasing the course.
Modern Calligraphy: Brush Pen Lettering
Anonymous review on 5/26/2018
The instructor was personable and informative but it was very disappointing that a class teaching the basics of lettering did not have a white board for the teacher to demonstrate the mechanics of drawing the basics. Instead, she wrote on a small paper and went around the room showing it to people in class.
Being such a visual process it was really strange there was not anything the instructor could draw on showing the movements and techniques of lettering.
Assemblage Art: Piece by Piece

Though I enjoyed the class I was miss lead by what the class actually is. I thought it was an actual figure drawing class but it is more of a self directed oil painting workshop. I still had a good time though.
