Class Description
Description
What you'll learn in this driving lesson:
Important information about traffic safety issues, driver attitude and behavior, defensive driving techniques, and the Vehicle and Traffic Law are presented in this class.
The course is approximately 6 hours long and is given in a single session. It includes videos and lectures by classroom teachers with over 20 years of experience. They pride themselves on bringing liveliness to the course that leaves you well informed while still keeping it fun.
The course applies to all license types and will give you a savings of 10% on your liability insurance. In order to continue receiving that 10% discount you must take the course every 3 years.
After completing the class, how will you receive the point reduction?
- The Course Sponsor (New York Safety Program) will notify the DMV within 10 weeks after you complete the course. A notice will then be entered on your driving record, and the DMV computer will automatically reduce your active point total by up to 4 points. Point reduction will affect only points accumulated during the 18 months prior to course completion.
- Even after you complete the course, most violations, convictions and points assessed will continue to show on your driving record for up to 4 years. Violations and convictions involving drugs or alcohol will remain on your driving record for 10 years. “Point Reduction” means the DMV will not count up to four points on your driving record towards revocation or suspension of your driver's license.

- All drivers, regardless of their violation and/or accident record
- Youthful drivers in addition to discounts for drivers education training
- Assigned "risk" drivers
- Commercial Vehicle Operators
- Drivers of all ages
Refund Policy
Except for contracts executed by the schools licensed by the New York State Education Department and subject to the refund provisions of regulations promulgated by that department, prepayment for lessons and other services shall be subject to refund as follows:
- If the student, having given at least 2 business days prior notice withdraws from or discontinues a prepaid course of instructions or series of lessons before completion thereof, or from any other service for which prepayment has been made or if the school is unable or unwilling to complete such prepaid course of instruction or series of lessons, or to provide such other prepaid service, all prepayment made by the student to the school shall be refunded except:
- an amount equal to the enrolment fee, if any, specified in the contract or expressly receipted for, not to exceed the sum of $10 or 10% of the total, whichever is greater, specified cost of such course of instruction or series of lessons and
- the schools per-lesson tuition charge or each lesson already taken by the student which charge shall be determined by dividing the total cost of such course of instruction or series of lessons by the number of lessons therein
In any event where a customer wants to cancel their enrollment and is eligible for a full refund, a 5% processing fee will be deducted from the refund amount.
