Make-A-Movie: Write, Direct, Shoot, Edit: Film Production Class
What an amazing special production class for all actors! In this Special Filmmaking Class, each student contributes to the writing, shooting, directing, acting and editing of their own short films, as divided in small crews. Students will be challenged to make a film that maintains continuity in story, time, space and emotion. Films may be of any genre, and can be narrative, documentary, or experimental. We leave this to the team.
Students may use sound effects, music, voiceover, and ambient sound to help tell their stories. Students are challenged to produce a clear, visual scene while maintaining the authenticity of the moment. Students write, direct, shoot, edit a film of up to three minutes. They will learn how to thoroughly pre-plan and complete a series of essential pre-production elements including script, location scouting, shot list, and shooting schedule. In addition, there will be a post production period, and zoom meetings during the week, as needed by each team.
Students direct their own projects in three or four person crews, and will rotate through production positions when fellow crew members direct. This helps each student gain an strong familiarity with every aspect of film production as they rotate from director, to director of photography, to assistant camera, to gaffer/grip. Students will be under the guidance of a professional film making instructor, which will require consultation and guidance. Students who successfully complete this class will receive an ATNY CERTIFICATE and leave the program with a digital master copy of their project.
*This special film production class is greatly discounted when purchased with a Full Day Actor Intensive. However, students may register for this class separately at regular price or with a Youth Membership. This class will consist of 7 in-studio classes, several zoom get togethers as needed by specific class members, and short outside of class shots, when needed.
We have a strict ‘NO REFUNDS’ policy.
Make-up Classes or Workshops
Classes: We know schedules can get difficult and things happen; so, we stay parent friendly and flexible. Make up classes must be completed in same semester as that to which you’ve registered. With the school approval, you may carry over missed 2 classes or days only, to the next semester only, including summer.
Workshops: Because there are limited seats in workshops, each workshop, without exception, is a ‘use it or lose it.’ There are no make up workshops permitted. However, if you give us written notice within 2 days of actual workshop that you cannot attend, we can attempt to fill your seat. Then, and only then, you may receive future workshop credit, to last 6 months from date of registered workshop.
Thank you for your understanding with this policy.
In any event where a customer wants to cancel their enrollment and is eligible for a full refund, a 5% processing fee will be deducted from the refund amount.
