What you'll learn in this dessert class:

Equally perfect for health conscious adults and kids who love to cook, fresh and healthy frozen treats will teach you a variety of methods for turning fresh fruit into frozen summer treats everyone will enjoy. You will have dessert in a few simple steps without turning on the oven. Win Win. 

All you need is a freezer, some fruit and a blender and/or food processor. Join Teaching Table for some freezing tips just in time for summer’s bounty, recipe ideas and 3 treats to cool you off on a summer day, all in under 1 hour. You will also finally learn the difference between all of your small kitchen appliances and how to best use each of them.

This is a virtual live hands on cooking class. You can make any or all of the treats along with us, using the ingredients and equipment you have on hand. We will share recipes and walk you through simple substitutions.

See below for what you need (we will provide a detailed list at least one week before the class as well). Minimal prep required.

Menu will include:

  • Watermelon Hibiscus Paletas
  • Chocolate Covered Frozen Bananas
  • 2 Step Seasonal Fruit Sorbet

What you'll need: (you’ll get a more detailed ingredients list and recipes 2 weeks before the class)

  1. Bananas
  2. Chocolate chips 
  3. Cinnamon (optional)
  4. Nut butter, like almond, peanut or sunflower (optional)
  5. Fresh or frozen fruits like berries, peaches, mangoes, watermelon, pineapple
  6. Juice from one lemon or lime
  7. Agave syrup (optional)
  8. Fresh herbs (optional)
  9. Toppings like chia seeds, sprinkles, shredded coconut, chopped nuts, etc. (optional)
  10. Cutting board
  11. Knife
  12. Sheet pans
  13. Parchment paper
  14. Blender or immersion blender or vitamix
  15. Food processor 
  16. Ice pop molds or small silicone containers or ice cube trays and small sticks
  17. Pop sticks (optional)

Remote Learning

This course is available for "remote" learning and will be available to anyone with access to an internet device with a microphone (this includes most models of computers, tablets). Classes will take place with a "Live" instructor at the date/times listed below.

Upon registration, the instructor will send along additional information about how to log-on and participate in the class.

Refund Policy

For single-session public events or classes or single days within multi-day classes:

  • If student cancels 6 business days or more before the class/event start time (or before receiving course materials), student is eligible for a refund (less a 7% processing fee) or a credit (100% of purchase price) towards another class/event.
  • If it is within 6 business days of your scheduled event, you can transfer your class to another individual or receive the recording and materials of virtual classes digitally.
  • No shows cannot be refunded. Cancelling after the cut off, withdrawing, or failing to attend results in forfeiting the full amount of the class or event fee. With approval of teacher, student may send someone else to participate and/or receive materials.
  • Most, but not all, classes are recorded. Please confirm in advance of class if you will be relying on the recording.

The school reserves the right to cancel an event or class due to low enrollment, inclement weather or other circumstances that would make the event or class non-viable. Public class participants will be notified via email and may elect to receive a full refund less a 5% non refundable registration fee, a class credit, or admission to another class, pending availability.

In any event where a customer wants to cancel their enrollment and is eligible for a full refund, a 5% processing fee will be deducted from the refund amount.

    The one-hour time was perfect. Not too long so it could fit into my schedule. The price was good. Sometimes you don't want to pay a lot for a class. Teacher was informative and I got some good recipes.
