What you'll learn in this dye class:
Learn the fascinating art of shibori dyeing! In this workshop, we’ll explore four unique shibori dyeing techniques. You’ll leave with a set of awesome indigo tea towels and the knowledge to take on future dyeing projects of your own.
What is shibori? It’s a Japanese dyeing technique that typically involves folding, twisting or bunching cloth and binding it, then dyeing it in indigo. Whatever is used to bind the fabric will resist the dye, resulting in areas of the cloth that take the distinctive blue dye in patterns created by the resistance, and other areas of the cloth that remain white. Shibori is a very vast technique and there are tons of ways to do it (and a truly infinite number of patterns you can create), and in this class you’ll get an in-depth look at several of them.
Shibori dyeing is truly an amazing craft, as every piece you dye is a little bit of a mystery. We promise you’ll love the process of folding fabric, dyeing it, then unfolding it to reveal the organic results. Join us for an amazing afternoon of shibori magic!

We do not issue refunds on workshop registrations.
- If you register for a workshop and later become unable to attend, we will gladly offer a credit if you notify us at least 5 business days before the workshop.
- We are unable to offer credits of any kind, or honor reschedule requests, with less than 5 business days advance notice.
In fairness to all of our customers, we are unable to make exceptions to our policy, including for reasons of illness or travel. If you are unable to attend a workshop at the last minute, we suggest giving your spot to a friend!
In any event where a customer wants to cancel their enrollment and is eligible for a full refund, a 5% processing fee will be deducted from the refund amount.

The instructor was SO knowledgeable about this craft and taught us multiple dying methods, how to care for and wash our tea towels, and even went into the science of how to mix up a perfect batch of die. This is picky, but I kind of wish there had been snacks or water offered, since the class was 2.5 hours long. Overall though, this was a nice way to spend a Sunday afternoon, and the location offered a 10% student discount to buy materials after the class. I would return for another class in the future.
