Class Description

Description

What you'll learn in this illustration class:

A Production Illustrator provides a production company with concept paintings, sketches and designs to aid in the development of the show elements under consideration. These are created for the producer, director, and/or production designer at any stage of the film’s development. This information can be provided to all production departments to aid in planning and delivering the film as envisioned by the director.

A major area of the illustrator’s contribution is to develop finished storyboards of the film describing, in the form of compact drawings, the way the film can be shot. In this class, we’ll cover only this aspect of production illustration, although many storyboards become so rich as to be miniature concept paintings.

Storyboards are the first look at the project as it might be visualized. They provide a concrete version of ideas in a form that can be discussed and evaluated by the entire production staff. They facilitate the distribution of information to all the various departments of the project.

Storyboarding can be done for any department of the production, at any time during the genesis of a project. They are the most cost effective design tool available for planning. The type of storyboards to be drawn vary with the department requesting them, as each department has its own needs and goals.

Important Things to Note:

There is a $20 registration fee that you must pay directly to LAAFA.
