Class Description

Description

What you'll learn in this millinery class:

You will create your own couture cocktail hat with the guidance of Louis Quinones. Starting with the basics techniques of every Milliner, Louis will teach you how to create your own design that flows with the natural shape of the headpiece. Working with everything from silks flowers to vintage French velvets, Louis will help you achieve balance between texture, color and design.

The tradition of hat making goes back hundreds of years, and each period inspired the next. With Louis, you’ll explore the combination of materials that voice their own image. As you touch and feel each material, you’ll learn how to combine them to create a complete pattern. Starting with a simple design, Louis will walk you through the styles and tailoring to give each piece its complete aesthetic. You will learn how to pair fabrics, colors, and designs while giving your hat a focal centerpiece.

Important Thing to Note:
Skill Level: Prior experience with stitching preferred, but not necessary.

You’ll take home a couture cocktail hat with you at the end of the class.

This was my first-ever millinery class, and it was an excellent experience. Louis is a great teacher and I hope to take additional millinery courses with him in the future.
